Frequently asked questions
Will it delete my real content?
No. SeedPress tags every item it creates with a private _seedpress_generated meta key. The cleanup tool only removes items that carry that tag. Your real posts, users, products, and terms are never touched.
Does it work without WP-CLI?
Yes. The admin UI handles everything — queue jobs, monitor progress, run cleanup — without any command-line access. WP-CLI support is a Pro bonus designed for CI/CD workflows and power users.
Does it work on WP Engine or managed hosts?
Yes. Generation is driven by the browser, not WP-Cron — so loopback restrictions common on managed hosts don't affect it. WP-Cron is retained as a silent fallback if you close the tab mid-run. For headless or CI environments, use the WP-CLI integration instead.
Is Composer required?
No. The Faker library is bundled inside the plugin ZIP. Just upload the file, activate the plugin, and start generating. There is no dependency installation step.
How does the Pro license work?
After purchase you receive a license key by email. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Tools → SeedPress → License, paste the key, and click Activate. It activates instantly and is valid on unlimited sites.
What happens if I cancel?
The free version keeps working forever — there is no time limit on the core plugin. If you are on the yearly Pro plan, Pro features deactivate at the end of your current billing period. If you purchased the lifetime plan, you own it permanently.
